But NEVER try to win as fast as possible the first time on a map, just reduce the computer to a non-threat and then build up like mad.ģ.

You can't leave anything in the area where their HQ proper appears, but right outside it will often put you in a position to start blasting their starting units and buildings. If you have a forward base in the right area you can even start trashing their starting base fairly well I've had great luck (and amusement) with properly placed turret/minefield zones. Things like Terminators at the start make it a trifle easier to defend.

I don't even bother with garrisons normally since I can spit out a full force in moments to deal with what I've got against me normally. In defensive missions you start with whatever you've built before, so having a full base puts you WAY above what the computer starts with. Once you smash down their base enough that they can't really tech up, DON'T destroy it right away get yourself to your fullest tech level and built up like hell, and turn your fortified area near the initial enemy advance into a full secondary base capable of producing what you need. You want the bloody fighting to be as far away from your main base if possible for the extra time to produce units if they overwhelm you.Ģ. Go for an area right in front of the enemy base/their typical line of attack on YOUR base and fortify it ASAP. Generally with Dark Crusade I recommend the following:ġ. KILL! MAIM! BURN! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!Ĭlick to expand.Orks don't exactly NEED honor guard though since they can manage a decent swarm without said guard. Hmm must resist urge to sacrifice our Priests and Commisars to praise Lord Khorne. I take it you need to beef up you Honour Gaurd a fair bit first right?Ĥ) Defense is actually quite fun definitely encourages you to build decent defenses as chances are they'll get reused.ĥ) The Ogryn animation for killing the Space Marine commander is really quite satisfying.Ħ) The different win conditions for the different maps are interesting, so far I particularly like the one where you kill lots of Necrons to gain the favour of a Daemon of Khorne. Though I have seen people on here say Chimera's are very powerful?Ģ) Necrons ludicrously annoying first time I saw the Monolith moving across the map was a real pants bricking moment.ģ) Attacking the race base locations seems very hard my first attempt on the marines was a massacre. But starting next to the Marines and Necrons is some what painful playing the guard.ġ) Basilisks and Leman Russ wonderful can't see any reason not to fill the veichle cap with them.

It's fantastic I love the map system it's like Mighty Empires for Warhammer. I'd never played either of the expansion packs so I figured I'd start with the Imperial Guard on the Dark Crusade campaign.

Thanks to the Soulstorm demo rekindling my love for Dawn of War, and finding out I've lost my Dow discs, I picked up the Dow anthology (game plus both expansion packs).
